ON THE USE OF THE STRUCTURED SINGULAR VALUE FOR ROBUSTNESS ANALYSIS OF DISTILLATION COLUMN CONTROL

摘要
This paper discusses the use of the structured singular value (SSV) for robustness analysis of distillation columns. Numerical robustness analysis results are given for LP and HP columns with no decoupling, simplified decoupling and ideal decoupling control schemes. It is shown that the SSV reduces the conservatism of the earlier singular value analysis. The numerical results demonstrate the tightness of different SSV bounds for a realistically large control problem and provide valuable insight into the utilization of the structured singular value.
