摘要
In this paper the array performances as function of the number of sensors are investigated. Redundancy is introduced as a tool for an array design which is more protected from the effects of noise. A design method based on the replication of a reference array, conceived disregarding the noise, is introduced. The statistical relationships, that connect array resolution with redundancy, are studied taking into account electronic and calibration noise. The results are illustrated through a numerical experiment, based on a real case, where the consideration of a noise model gives the resolution behaviour versus redundancy, and further, this experiment provides a useful tool to design the least redundancy value that gives the desired resolution.
