SURFACE CRYSTALLIZATION OF LITHIUM DIBORATE ON GLASS INDUCED BY ULTRASONIC TREATMENT

摘要
Surface crystallization characteristics of Li2B4O7 were investigated for a glass of composition 32Li(2)O.3AlO(1.5).3TiO(2).62B(2)O(3) (in mol%). Ultrasonic surface treatment (UST) with an aqueous suspension of Li2B4O7 before heat treatment significantly enhanced the surface crystallization of Li2B4O7 and unknown phase(s). A dense film consisting only of fine-grain Li2B4O7 was induced by UST with an ethanol suspension of Li2B4O7. The mechanism of the surface modification is discussed.
