RAMAN SPECTRA OF CALF THYMUS AND OF SALMON TESTES DEOXYRIBONUCLEIC ACID

摘要
The Raman spectra of calf thymus and of salmon testes DNA as solid, aqueous gel, D2O gel and alkaline aqueous gel are presented. The spectra show features ascribable to the disordered helix B-helix transition. However, the spectra of the two DNA's agree neither with each other nor with the infrared spectra, in. the 1600-1700 cm-1 region. The spectra are quite insensitive to changes in state or environment, showing that the electronic structure of the double helix is very stable. Several Raman bands are assigned to the constituent bases. © 1969.
