GENETIC BEHAVIOR OF INFORMATION CODING FOR THE SMALL SUBUNIT POLYPEPTIDES OF LYCOPERSICON FRACTION-1 PROTEIN

摘要
The small subunit of Lycopersicon parvilorum Fraction 1 protein is composed of two kinds of polypeptides whereas that of L. esculentum is composed of three. The small subunit of the F1 hybrid, L. esculentum × L. parviflorum, is composed of three kinds of polypeptides. In 60 F2 progeny, Fraction 1 protein small subunits of the L. parviflorum, F1 hybrid, and L. esculentum types were recovered in a ratio of 1 : 2 : 1, yielding the conclusion that nuclear genetic information for the three kinds of L. esculentum and two kinds of L. parviflorum small subunit polypeptides acted as a unit without segregation into different combinations of polypeptides. The coding information being contained on heterologous chromosomes, it is probable that multiple small subunit polypeptides in Lycopersicon originated by allopolyploidy. © 1979.
