摘要
Extractive liquid scintillation cocktails with trioctylphosphineoxide (TOPO) and trioctylamine (TOA) as extractant, 2,5-diphenyloxazole (PPO) and napthalene as scintillator and toluene as solvent have been developed. Their application for the selective separation and measurement of Ra-226, Rn-222, Po-218, Po-214, Po-210 as well as natural U and Th isotopes from HBr-solution in one step is described. Electronic pulse shape discrimination and window setting to reject beta- and gamma-radiation enables the detection of 214Pb and Bi-214 as accompanying beta-emitters simultaneously. Radon together with the alpha-emitting daughter nuclides can be assayed similarly after extraction from natural water samples. All procedures are rapid with recoveries of > 90% and counting efficiencies between 95 and 100%.
