摘要
The effect of Ca2+ supplement on boron-deficient cultures of Anabaena sp. PCC 7119 growing under N2 fixing conditions has been studied. Calcium-supplied cultures showed a recovery of growth correlated with a similar recovery of photosynthetic pigments, photosynthesis and nitrogenase activity. Examination of cells also showed a restoration in the structure of photosynthetic membranes and heterocyst envelopes. These results suggest that there is a cooperative role of B and Ca in the stabilization of membranes and envelopes in cyanobacteria, similar to that in higher plants.
