PICOSECOND MAGNETIC CIRCULAR-DICHROISM SPECTROSCOPY

摘要
A new technique for measuring circular dichroism signals induced by an external magnetic field with picosecond resolution is described. This technique is used to examine the change in magnetic circular dichroism signal of the Q-band absorption of myoglobin following the photodissociation of CO from carbon monoxymyoglobin. The time-dependent data demonstrate (1) the iron undergoes the transition from low to high spin within the instrument response (<20 ps) and (2) there is no measurable structural change of the heme from 20 ps to several nanoseconds. © 1990 American Chemical Society.
