R2CuO4 (R = Y, Dy, Ho, Er, Tm) has been found to crystallize in the Nd2CuO4-type structure under high pressure of 6 MPa at 1223 K. The tetragonal cell constants decrease linearly with decreasing R ion size (rR = 0.099 nm for Tm) till Yb destabilizes this structure. © 1990.
