Two patients with oculopharyngeal muscular dystrophy, in whom the pharynx and esophagus were examined at necropsy, are presented. It is postulated that the dysphagia in both resulted from the histologic changes of muscular dystrophy which affected the striated musculature of the pharynx and upper esophagus. © 1969 Hoeber Medical Division • Harper & Row, Publishers, Incorporated.
