摘要
In this article, I first question the widely held assumption that junior faculty should be involved in writing grant proposals and administering grants. I note some of the pitfalls related to engaging in grantsmanship as a new faculty member. Second, I offer several suggestions for those junior faculty who do decide to engage in grant writing. Related to preparing to write a proposal, I discuss having a positive attitude and being sure one has enough time to prepare a good proposal. Related to writing a proposal, I discuss the importance of quality and offer suggestions for improving the quality of one's writing.
