:
DC magnetization measurements of κ-(BEDT-TTF)2Cu(NCS)2 in the superconducting state show unusual flux jump phenomena. The analysis of the effect yields a pinning force density of ∼ 1.5 × 1012 N/m3, an order of magnitude larger than that of the high temperature superconductor YBaCuO. The magnetization measurements confirm the anisotropy of the upper critical fields and show no evidence of flux flow and fluctuation effects for κ-(BEDT-TTF)2Cu(NCS)2. The de Haas-van Alphen Oscillations yield a frequency of 622 tesla and a beat frequency of ∼ 30 tesla. This is the first evidence of a beat frequency for this compound, indicating warping of the 2-dimensional Fermi surface in the z direction. © 1990.
