FLOW NUCLEAR MAGNETIC-RESONANCE INVESTIGATION OF THE INTERMEDIATES FORMED BY THE ATTACK OF ALKOXIDE IONS ON SUBSTITUTED PYRIDINIUM IONS

摘要
High-resolution flow NMR has been used to detect and to characterize the intermediates formed by the attack of alkoxide ions on substituted pyridinium ions in Me2SO-methanol solution. The kinetic and thermodynamic distributions of the 1, 2 and 1, 4 isomers have been determined and the UV-visible spectra of both species have been assigned. The results are discussed with respect to literature data concerning the orientation of the attack of nucleophiles on pyridinium ions. © 1979, American Chemical Society. All rights reserved.
