The low-temperature proton magnetic resonance spectrum and the stereochemical nonrigidity of (C7H7)(C5H5)(CO)2Mo are discussed. It is concluded that the principal pathway of rearrangement is a 1,2 shift of the metal about the cycloheptatrienyl ring. In addition to this rearrangement, a second process, the details of which are not certain, gives rise to four carbonyl stretching bands in the infrared spectrum; nevertheless, it appears that there is probably an equilibrium between two trihaptocycloheptatrienyl conformers. © 1969, American Chemical Society.
