摘要
This is the first of a three-part paper that reviews and collates much of the existing information on the aerodynamics of ground vehicles in high cross winds and sets it in a new analytical framework that enables the inter-relation between the various cross wind problems to be appreciated. This particular paper draws together and discusses the mean aerodynamic forces and moments for a variety of vehicle types-high- and low-speed trains, high-sided road vehicles and cars. Parts II and III will go on to consider, respectively, the unsteady aerodynamic forces and moments on such vehicles, and the interaction between the applied aerodynamic forces and the dynamics of the vehicle system. © 1991 by Academic Press Limited.
