ELECTRIC QUARK CONFINEMENT IN 2+1 DIMENSIONS

摘要
Taking the SU(N) Georgi-Glashow model in 2 + 1 dimensions, we demonstrate electric quark confinement in the hamiltonian formalism. We do this by deriving a dual lagrangian which determines the vacuum structure in the strong coupling regime. We show that the ZN symmetry is dynamically broken, that the vacuum is a condensed phase of magnetic vortices, and that quarks are confined permanently by the quantized electric flux stretching between them. © 1979.
