Adsorption of the sodium salts of adenosine 5'-mono-, di- and triphosphates (AMP, ADP, ATP), fructose monophosphate (FMP), and glycerophosphoric acid (GPA) on silica have been studied using a solid state LaPO4 membrane electrode measured at pH 7.0. All phosphates show maximum adsorption at pH 4.0 with the exception of AMP at pH 5.0. Adsorption isotherms for all the phosphates have been recorded. The adsorption mechanism of organic phosphates on silica is attributed to electrostatic attraction-based interaction. Organic phosphates decompose at temperatures higher than room temperature.
