In the case of interaction potentials which vanish rapidly enough at infinity, a generalization of the well-known Onsager formula for the rate constant of diffusion-limited reactions to include a weak external uniform electric field is obtained. In our treatment, the magnitudes of the reaction surface radius and absolute rate constant have been taken to be finite.
