DETERMINATION OF SR-89 AND SR-90 RADIOACTIVE CONCENTRATIONS FROM LEAST-SQUARES FITS TO THE GROWTH DECAY CURVES

摘要
A method has been developed for determining the radioactive concentration of Sr-89 and Sr-90 in samples, using the Y-90 growth curve and the Sr-89 and Sr-90 decay curves. Experimental data are obtained by successive counts of the sample activity as measured by a gas-flow proportional counter. Least squares fits are then made to the theoretical curves. A discussion is given of the number of measurements needed and the most suitable dates for making them relative to the radiochemical separation date of the strontium.
