CHARACTERIZATION OF POLYMER-COATED C-18 PACKING MATERIALS FOR REVERSED-PHASE LIQUID-CHROMATOGRAPHY

Two kinds of polymer-coated, silica-based C18packing materials differing from each other in synthetic procedure are prepared. One is obtained by forming a silicone polymer on a silica surface and introducing octadecyl groups (Capcell-C18). The other packings are obtained by immobilizing silicone polymers having octadecyl groups that were synthesized beforehand (P-Xs, P-MR-Xs). Several methods are proposed to characterize these packings. Results for the above mentioned packings and several commercially available monomeric and polymer-coated packings are obtained. © 1990 Oxford University Press.
