REACTIONS OF NITROSYL COMPLEXES .10. SYNTHESIS AND STRUCTURE OF (ETA-5-C5H4CH3)4CO2FE2(MU-3-NO)2 AND TRINUCLEAR METHYLCYCLOPENTADIENYL HETEROMETAL CLUSTERS WITH MU-3-NH AND MU-3-NO LIGANDS

摘要
The reactions of [Cp'Fe(mu-NO)]2 with excess Cp'Co(C2H4)2 (CP'= eta-5-C5H4CH3) in toluene or THF under mild thermal or photochemical conditions yield the isoelectronic clusters Cp'3Co2Fe(mu-3-NH)(mu-3-NO) (II) and Cp'3CoFe2(mu-3-NH)2 (III) together with Cp'4Co2Fe2(mu-3-NO)2 (VI) as main products. The novel compounds were separated by chromatography and characterized by IR, H-1 NMR, and mass spectra. The X-ray diffraction analysis of the tetranuclear cluster VI shows the NO ligands to bridge the two CoFe2 faces of an ideal Co2 Fe2 tetrahedron. The complexes Cp'3Co3(mu-3-NO)2 (I), CP'3Co2(mu-3-CCH3)2 (V), and the very labile 49-electron compound Cp'3Co2Fe(mu-3-NH)2 (IV) were identified as by-products of the reaction.
