摘要
Temperature changes associated with the stress-induced martensitic transformation in NiTi have been measured. The magnitude of the temperature changes observed depends on the transformation rate and specimen-environment heat transfer, with values of approximately 13 K being recorded for near-adiabatic conditions. The transformation induced temperature change was found to have a marked effect on stress-strain behaviour. Specimen temperatures calculated from a heat balance analysis are shown to agree well with experimental measurements.
