Inelastic scattering of vibrationally excited KBr by small polar molecules

摘要:
Scattering intensities as functions of angle and velocity, for the interaction of highly vibrationatly excited potassium bromide with methanol, water, and ammonia under molecular beam conditions, are reported and analyzed. A crossed beam reaction is used to produce potassium bromide with an average vibrational energy of 41 kcal/mole. Inelastic collisions between excited potassium bromide and partner molecules occur with large cross sections, > 300 A(2), and proceed through a short lived energy randomizing collision complex.
