Used probability community samples of 9- to 17-year-old Puerto Rican children to replicate previous findings of bidimensional covariation of teacher and parent reports of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) symptoms generally used on clinical or otherwise selected samples. Parents and teachers responses to ADHD questions from a Spanish version of the Diagnostic Interview Schedule for Children were factor analyzed. Both analyses lend support to a bidimensional conceptualization of ADHD consisting of two factors, Inattention and Hyperactivity-Impulsivity, that are virtually identical for independent ratings of parents and teachers in terms of the item loadings. The data are consistent with the conceptualization of ADHD, as noted in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (4th ed.; American Psychiatric Association, 1994), and its cross-cultural applicability.
