摘要
The treatment of the influence of a magnetic field on the transport properties of a dilute polyatomic gas is extended to include the Burnett regime. Starting from the Waldmann-Snider equation, the second order Chapman-Enskog equation is obtained and set up in a form facilitating a simple solution. Expressions for the heat flux vector and pressure tensor are derived in the linear case in terms of the solutions of the first order Chapman-Enskog equations; the phenomenological linear Burnett coefficients are obtained together with certain Onsager relations among them. The forms of the fluxes for the more general nonlinear case are given and the difficulties to be encountered there are indicated. No detailed treatment of the nonlinear problem is attempted. A brief discussion of the motivations of this work and of the experimental situation is presented. Finally, a general statistical mechanical expression for one of the linear Burnett coefficients is derived from the point of view of the Kubo linear response formalism. © 1969.
