摘要
In Callicebus a sublingually situated structure was described by some authorities who called it ‘sublingua’ or ‘frenal lamella’. The histological examination of this structure revealed remarkable residts, not known so far in primates. It contains the excretory ducts of salivary glands, which open mostly at the lateral edges and at the tip of the organ through tentacle-like papils. Around the openings are found taste buds. The body of the organ contains no muscles and is, therefore, dependent on the movements of the tongue. Structures very similar to fungiform papils of the tongue are described. Because the homology of the organ is still unclear it is called a sublingual organ, a term which does not involve any homology at all. © 1969 S. Karger AG, Basel.
