HYDROGEN RECOMBINATION LINES AT DECIMETRIC WAVELENGTHS FROM DIRECTION OF GALACTIC-CENTER

H166α lines have been measured at 21 positions within 1° of the galactic centre. H192α and 241β spectra from the direction of Sgr A are also presented. The observations usually show narrow low-velocity emission lines, probably from gas in the line of sight, and broad lines which are presumably from the central part of the Galaxy. The latter show evidence of an expanding or contracting disk of ionized gas at positive longitudes within 70 parsecs of Sgr A. Some H166α emission may be associated with the H I rotating nuclear disk. © 1977 Royal Astronomical Society.
