INFRARED LATTICE VIBRATIONS IN CoF2

摘要
The room temperature infrared reflection spectrum of CoF2 is studied in the range 60 to 10,000 cm(-1) using polarizers. The frequencies, effective charges and damping factors of the transverse and longitudinal phonon modes are determined. Helium temperature transmission experiments show four lines in the range 60 to 240 cm(-1). Two of these lines appear to be impurity effects, the other two may involve magnetic coupling.
