摘要
Optical disk recording is attractive because it allows instantaneous playback, very fast random access, high recording density (better than magnetic recording), and archival storage. And a particularly promising technique is the optical disk system that uses laser recording to store encoded information at very high data rates with extremely high density. Those optical disk systems under ongoing development for professional use that permit both recording and immediate playback of the stored information are described in this article.
