摘要
Hamsters were infected with the A/Swine/Ann Arbor/31 virus or the X-53 recombinant possessing the haemagglutinin and neuraminidase of A/Swine/New Jersey/76 virus. In a series of other tests, hamsters, mice, rabbits and guinea-pigs were inoculated with formalin-inactivated Ann Arbor virus and revaccinated either with inactivated Ann Arbor or with X-53 virus. The animal sera were tested for haemagglutination-inhibiting antibody; in hamsters, also the formation of neuraminidase-inhibiting antibodies was investigated. The results revealed a close antigenic relationship between both of the surface antigens of the two viruses. Because of the excellent growth of Ann Arbor in chick embryos, it is suggested that the X-53 virus could be substituted by the Ann Arbor virus in influenza A/Swine vaccine production. © 1978 The International Association of Biological Standardization.
