BARYONS AS BOUND-STATES OF DIQUARKS AND QUARKS IN THE NAMBU-JONA-LASINIO MODEL

Baryons are studied within a recently developed hadronization approach to quark flavour dynamics. In this approach a baryon is composed of a diquark and a quark and is described by a Fadeev type equation. The latter describes in particular the quark exchange between the diquark and the quark. This quark exchange, which is a manifestation of the Pauli principle, represents the minimal correlations necessary for a description of the baryon which is consistent with the construction of the diquark states in the ladder approximation and binds the quark and the diquark into baryons. If the exchanged quark is treated as infinitely heavy the Fadeev equation is reduced to a Dirac type equation with a momentum-dependent mass. The resulting baryon masses are in good agreement with experimental data.
