摘要
It is shown that, for photon-limited observations, the number of telescope hours required to make a given set of interferometric measurements with an array of large aperture telescopes, depends on the array configuration. For non-redundant arrays the highest observing efficiency is achieved by arrays containing only a few elements. For highly-redundant arrays, the efficiency is maximized by maximizing the number of elements. © 1979.
