LASER SPECTROSCOPIC STUDY OF THE ALPHA(4)PI-CHI(4)SIGMA(-) TRANSITION OF MON

A (4) Pi-X(4) Sigma(-) transitions, (0, 0), (0, 1) and (0, 2) of MoN between 5990-6330 Angstrom have been studied using wavelength-resolved laser-induced fluorescence spectroscopy. MoN was produced by reacting vaporized MoC1(5), with microwave discharged N-2, gas. The ground state X(4) Sigma(-) vibrational constants omega(e) and omega(e)x(e) of different isotopic molecules have been determined. omega(e) (cm(-1)) is 1059.2, 1057.0, 1055.8, 1053.7, 1052.5, and omega(e)x(e) (cm(-1)) is 4.8, 4.7, 4.7, 4.5, 4.4, for (MoN)-Mo-92, (MoN)-Mo-94, (96)MON, (98)MON, (MoN)-Mo-100, respectively.
