Excess heat capacities at constant atmospheric pressure C(P)E of the binary system 1-butanol + toluene have been determined at 298.15 K, 323.15 K, 348.15 K and 368.15 K. The instrument used was a programmable differential scanning calorimeter based on the Calvet principle. The C(P)E decrease from 298.15 K to 323.15 K for mole fractions of the alcohol less than approximately 0.2, and increase for higher concentrations. From 323.15 K to 368.15 K the C(P)E decrease with increasing temperature. A negative region at low mole fractions of 1-butanol appears when the temperature is increased.
