BARRIER HEIGHTS VERSUS TEMPERATURE IN SPIN-GLASSES

Recent experimental results on the relaxation of the remanent magnetization (after various aging procedures) have been used to study the temperature dependence of the barrier heights between the metastable states of spin glasses. It is suggested that, in the range 0.8 < T/T(g) < 1, the temperature variation of the barriers only depends on T - T* where T* characterizes each particular barrier DELTA*. As the temperature is lowered, the height of DELTA* increases and diverges at T*. The emerging picture is consistent with that of a continuous series of micro-phase transitions below T(g), as suggested from theoretical arguments.
