摘要
A full set of equations describing the axially symmetric self-focusing in gyrotropic media is obtained and investigated. The nonlinear Schrodinger (NS) equations for the problem in question are derived and applied to the self-focusing. It is shown that the self-focusing in gyrotropic media may be accompanied by irradiation due to a transformation of the wave, trapped in a nonlinear duct, into a radiating mode. This is beyond the NS approximation and may result in a subsequent defocusing of the nonlinear wave beam.
