VIBRATIONAL ASSIGNMENTS IN BORATES WITH VATERITE STRUCTURE

摘要
The vibrational spectra of rare-earth borates with the vaterite structure are interpreted on the basis of a planar T-shape for the borate ion. A normal coordinate analysis of this ion is given, using a general valence force field (GVFF). The B3O9 ring with C3v symmetry is also considered as a basis for the interpretation of the infrared spectra of rare-earth borates with the vaterite structure. The frequencies for this system containing natural boron, 10B, and 11B are calculated, using a GVFF potential function. © 1969.
