摘要
A method of recording the phase as well as the amplitude of the radiowaves reflected from the D- and E-regions of the ionosphere is described. Because of the finite pulsewidth, the returned echo is a moving average" of the echo that would result from a very short pulse. If both amplitude and phase information is available this smoothing process may be inverted by standard Fourier methods giving improved time resolution. This technique is applied to some data obtained using a frequency of 2.4 MHz and a pulselength of 25 μsec. © 1969."
