Energy consumption of the state of Bahrain is compared with some developed countries. An index and a coefficient of effective consumption are introduced to provide measures of power consumption. Although Bahrain has one of the highest per capita power consumptions in the world (19 k W), it has a low GNP for such high power consumption. Logistic equations are used to predict the future fuel production rate and the fuel reserve life. A good match is observed between the predicted curves and existing data. Finally, measures to save energy are discussed and it is found that savings of 17% could be achieved by using conservation measures and utilizing solar energy for domestic water heating.
