摘要
Low-spin shape coexistence in the Hg and Pb isotopes is discussed within the shell correction approach with the axial, reflection-asymmetric Woods-Saxon model. For neutron deficient isotopes with N < 110 the calculations predict a competition between low-lying prolate and oblate shapes with quadrupole deformations ranging from very small (\beta2\ approximately 0.15) to very large (\beta2\ approximately 0.8). The classification of intruder states in terms of the intruder spin is discussed.
