摘要
The problem of hexagonal pattern formation in a Kerr medium is considered, and the observables are identified which characterize the correlations among the signal beams in the far field, both on a classical and on a quantum mechanical level. A complementarity is pointed out between the observation of a pattern (rolls or hexagons) in the near field and the measurement of quantum noise reduction in the far field.
