摘要
Process variables, including impurity control, are described for a promising scrap reclamation technique. The process, originally designed for treating copper ores serves, with modifications, for reclaiming brass scrap. Three major steps of the process are detailed: (1) an aqueous cupric chloride/sodium chloride leach at atmospheric pressure and temperatures of 75 to 110 degree C; (2) the removal of some contaminant metals from the leach solutions by precipitation; and (3) electrolysis of the purified solution to recover copper, frequently in powder form, and to generate leaching agent.
