LASER-INDUCED GEOMETRICAL CHANGE OF FLUORESCENT TRAPS IN CAST THIN-FILMS OF OMEGA-(1-PYRENYL) ALKANOIC ACIDS

摘要
Cast films of ω-(1-pyrenyl)alkanoic acids showed fluorescence spectral changes by irradiation with an excimer laser and an intense xenon lamp, although absorption spectral change was never observed. This characteristic phenomenon depended upon the irradiation light source and the number of methylenes in the alkanoic acids. The fluorescence spectral change induced by laser irradiation was attributed to structural change of fluorescent pyrenyl aggregates. This molecular motion is a thermalization process from the higher excited singlet state of pyrenyl chromophores which were formed through mutual interactions between excited states and successive multiphoton absorption. © 1990.
