Bis(dihydrogenphosphito)zinc-water (3/1), Zn(HPO3H)2.1/3H2), M(r) = 233.4, rhombohedral, R3BAR, a = 21.144 (10), c = 7.780 (4) angstrom, V = 3012 (3) angstrom3, z = 18, D(m) = 1.41 (by pycnometry), D(x) = 1.395 Mg m-3, lambda(Mo K-alpha) = 0.71069 angstrom, mu = 2.3 mm-1, F(000) = 2075, room temperature, final R = 0.035, wR = 0.036 for 545 independent reflections. The structure has a channel-type arrangement. A three-dimensional network of ZnO6 octahedra and HPO,H - tetrahedra winds round the inverse ternary axis on which the water molecule is found. The channel diameter is very large (about 7 angstrom).
