摘要
Platinum foil, precipitated platinum black and electro-deposited platinum, platinum incorporating lead and 'Raney' platinum have the same specific activity for the electrocatalytic oxidation of acetic acid and acetate ion although the surface roughness changes by three orders of magnitude. Depletion of reactant and an associated increase in acidity in the micro-pores can lead to an apparent change of specific activity for acetate ion. Electrodeposited platinum electrodes of large surface roughness have been found to sinter during acetate oxidation af 94°C. © 1968.
