摘要
1. The neuroregulators (neurotransmitters/neuromodulators) that appear to have roles in the release of crustacean hormones from their secretory sites are identified. 2. The evidence, including that derived from biochemical and immunocytochemical investigations, for the presence of such neuroregulators in crustacean nervous systems is described. 3. The roles of these neuroregulators in the release of such hormones as the pigmentotropic hormones, the molt-inhibiting hormone, the gonad-stimulating hormone, and the crustacean hyperglycemic hormone, are discussed. 4. The potential use of the crustacean neuroendocrine system as a model for testing novel neuropharmacological compounds is outlined.
