ON HIGGS BOSON MASSES IN NONMINIMAL SUPERSYMMETRIC STANDARD MODELS

Upper bounds on the mass of the lightest Higgs boson in non-minimal supersymmetric standard models arise if the theory is required to remain perturbative up to some scale M(GUT) >> G(F)-1/2. We have computed those bounds by numerical integration of the corresponding renormalization group equations for M(GUT) = O(10(16) GeV) and three illustrative non-minimal models, with extra Higgs contents: (i) a gauge singlet; (ii) an SU(2) triplet with Y = 0; and (iii) three SU(2) triplets with Y = 0, +/- 1. For m(t) > 89 GeV the absolute bounds are 140 GeV, 120 GeV and 130 GeV, for cases (i), (ii) and (iii), respectively. These bounds do not contain radiative corrections and should be compared with the value (m(z)) obtained in the case of the minimal model.
