摘要
The chemistry of an alkali chloride doped manganese oxide catalyst has been studied by a range of techniques including TPR, XPS, DRIFTS, and mass spectrometer product sampling. By injecting chloroform into flowing methane over the catalyst in the absence of oxygen, reactions involving surface oxygen can bc distinguished from those involving gas phase oxygen. The evidence shows that the active catalyst for ethene production consists of a layer of MnCl2 with a small amount of associated oxygen and potassium, supported on Mn3O4.
