摘要
Retention data for several solutes and mobile phases composed of methylene chloride-hexane and isopropanol-hexane are reported for a diol column. These data are in agreement with a previous model of retention in normal-phase systems. These and other data from the literature have been used to characterize the selectivity of diol, cyano and amino columns for various sample types. The diol and amino columns each preferentially retain basic solutes (e.g., esters, ketones) vs. dipolar solutes (nitro and nitrile derivatives), when compared to a cyano column. The amino column strongly retains acidic solutes. © 1990.
