PARTICULAR EFFECTS OF LANGMUIR-BLODGETT MONOLAYERS ON THE ELECTRICAL CONDUCTIVITIES OF ALUMINUM DEPOSITS

摘要
A very interesting effect of a Langmuir-Blodgett (LB) monolayer was found. A superthin aluminium film deposited on the LB monolayer in vacuo exhibited an extraordinarily high electrical conductivity of 1.6 x 10(3) S cm-1. This value is greater by a factor of 10(7) than that of simultaneously evaporated aluminium deposited on the bare glass and is over 1/200th that of metallic aluminium. This phenomenon appears only when the LB monolayer of the octadecyl derivative of a merocyanine dye is used but does not appear for that of cadmium stearate.
